About Our Choirs

 

Prima (Children's Choir Grades K-1) – This introductory musical experience is especially for children in Kindergarten and 1st grade.  Movement activities, games, playing instruments, and singing provide these young musicians fun-filled ways to explore music and choir!   Prima performs at two major concerts each year - December Holiday Concert & May Spring Sing.  Prima rehearses 45 minutes each week. 

No audition or interview required.

Kyla Bailey, Director – Aurora

Aurora (Children's Choir Grades 2 - 5) – These singers experience the foundational elements of the choral arts (music theory, vocal pedagogy, performance techniques) through fun activities such as movement and dance, music technology and playing instruments in addition to traditional choral rehearsal techniques.  Aurora performs at two major concerts each year as well as outreach performances and special events.  Aurora rehearses for 1 1/2 hours each week.  Placement is based upon vocal ability and aural music skills demonstrated during the informal interview.

Amiaza (Grades 6 - 12) - This intermediate level ensemble is a select group of boys and girls who exhibit vocal skill as well as musicianship. The focus of Amiaza is development of healthy vocal production, deeper understanding of music theory, and experiencing core choral repertoire.  Amiaza performs at three major concerts each year, at outreach performances and special events, and tours domestically each season.  Amiaza rehearses for 2 hours each week.

Serata (Grades 8 – 12) – This intermediate to advanced choir is comprised of boys with changed voices who have previous choral experience either through Amiaza, school, church or private music instruction.  This choir continues  with development of excellent vocal technique and mastery of advanced music theory concepts.  Serata performs at three major concerts each year, at outreach performances and special events, and tours either domestically or internationally each season.  Serata  rehearses for 2 hours each week.

Rodney Shores, Director – Serata

Stele (Grades 9 – 12) – This advanced choir is comprised of girls who have previous choral experience either through Amiaza, school, church or private music instruction.  A continued emphasis on excellent vocal technique and mastering advanced music theory concepts allows this ensemble to successfully perform some of the most challenging treble choral literature available.  Stele performs at three major concerts each year, at outreach performances and special events, and tours either domestically or internationally each season.  Stele rehearses for 2 hours each week.

Voci de Lumina (Grades 9 – 12) -  Selected by audition, this smaller ensemble explores choral music of all styles from chamber music to vocal jazz, both accompanied and a cappella.  Voci performs at three major concerts each year, at outreach performances and special events, and tours either domestically or internationally each season.  Voci rehearses for 1 1/2 hours each week.
